Structural Engineer
Description:
Seeking a structural engineer to join a recognized design and consulting engineering firm. The ideal candidate will be capable of conducting structural analysis, design, and investigative projects. They will also be expected to complete and asses design calculations, as well as administer the preparation of drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities:
• Analyze a variety of structural engineering and design tasks in masonry, wood structures, steel, and concrete.
• Offer counseling to senior staff throughout the construction administration. process of projects.
• Aid senior staff in site investigations to report existing conditions.
• Active involvement in projects that may include:
     o Analysis of structural failures and unfavorable performance.
     o Creation of commercial, residential and institutional buildings.
     o Construct measures for improvement of problem structures.
     o Seismic analysis and assessment.

Qualifications:

Senior Staff I- Building Technology
A large, national engineering company that works to restore and different structures is looking to hire a Senior Staff member in New York who will manage small to medium size projects. This will include analyzing and then designing repairs for these existing buildings. Some responsibilities that a candidate for this position must be able to do include having the ability to travel by air, car, and train to several job sites, feeling comfortable with working at tall heights, and climbing scaffolds and ladders.

Responsibilities:
•Analyze and repair damaged parts of buildings
•Test for water leakage and analysis/examination of current building systems including plaza waterproofing systems, walls, roofs, and curtain wall and window systems
•Planning repairs to current systems of buildings that may be damaged in some way which could include curtain wall and window systems, roofs, walls, and plaza waterproofing systems
•Review coworkers’ plans and specifications
•Help senior staff during the construction administration part of projects
•Provide litigation support for projects which involve all mentioned issues
•Aid senior staff in recording and documenting current conditions of structures, investigating sites, and assisting in the design process
•Provide support for construction and design to contractors and design consultation to architects
•Sample all envelope components including below grade elements, wall claddings, windows, flooring, roofs, skylights, and plaza waterproofing
Qualifications:
•Great graphic skills on the computer
•Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, Engineering, or Architecture as well as experience within a construction management or engineering/architectural firm, or a Bachelor’s Degree in addition to ten years experience in the industry
•(Acceptable) Motor Vehicle Report as well as a valid driver’s license
•Capable of meeting deadlines
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Exposure to preserving historic structures, speaking in public, curtain wall design, and industrial rope access/rock climbing puts the candidate at an advantage
•Comfortable being and thriving within a team environment
•Ability to receive registration within one year or professional registration (EIT ready to license is also acceptable)
